Create a beautiful functional berry bowl designed for washing, draining, and serving fresh berries all in one piece.

This two-part workshop combines wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques to create a nested berry bowl and reservoir system that allows water to drain below the fruit while maintaining an elegant, finished appearance.

Session One:

• Throw the berry bowl
• Create the outer catch basin
• Learn techniques for matching forms and sizing components

Session Two:

• Trim and refine both pieces
• Add drainage holes
• Create the integrated water reservoir
• Finish and prepare your piece for firing

We'll discuss proper spacing, drainage design, and construction techniques to ensure your finished berry bowl is both beautiful and functional.

Prerequisite: This is not a learn-to-throw class. Participants should be comfortable centering clay and throwing basic bowl forms independently. This workshop is designed for students who have completed our 6-week Beginner Wheel Class or have equivalent wheel-throwing experience. We will be using intermediate and advanced techniques to create a functional berry bowl designed for washing, draining, and serving fresh berries.

Finished pieces will be bisque fired approximately 2–3 weeks after the second class. Glazing is not included in this workshop. Participants may return during any open studio session to glaze their berry bowl by paying the applicable studio fee.

BYOB: Feel free to bring your favorite beverage to enjoy while you create. Adult beverages are welcome for guests 21+ with a valid ID.
