Ever wonder why some glaze combinations create breathtaking results while others run, crawl, or crack? Join us as we unveil our exciting new collection of Mayco glazes, which will be replacing many of the Gare specialty glazes being discontinued. We'll explore the science behind successful glaze layering..

During this workshop, we'll discuss glaze layering, glaze chemistry, and common issues such as running, crawling, crazing, shivering, pinholing, and other firing surprises. You'll learn how glaze thickness, application techniques, and glaze combinations can dramatically affect your finished results.

After the demonstration, you'll have the opportunity to glaze your own bisque-fired pottery using our new glaze collection. Participants may bring previously bisque-fired pieces purchased from Just Claying Around or created using clay purchased from our studio. Additional bisque pieces will also be available for purchase during the workshop.

Have questions about glazes, layering, firing results, or a piece that didn't turn out as expected? Bring them! We'll set aside time for Q&A and troubleshooting so you can get the most out of your glazing experience.
