Wheel + Handbuilding: Animal Mug Workshop
Wheel + Handbuilding: Animal Mug Workshop
Take your pottery to the next level by combining wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques in one fun project!
In this workshop, each participant will receive a wheel-thrown mug or planter form and learn how to transform it into a whimsical animal-themed piece using slabs, sculpted additions, handles, and feet.
Our demonstration will cover:
- Planning your design
- Attaching slabs and sculptural elements securely
- Creating expressive animal faces
- Building sturdy feet and handles
- Moisture control and attachment techniques to help prevent cracking
Choose from a mug or planter form and create your own elephant, pig, cow, frog, cat, dog, or dream up something entirely unique.
Because each participant receives one pre-thrown form, you'll be able to focus on design, construction, and finishing techniques rather than spending time learning wheel throwing.
No wheel experience required.
Finished pieces will be bisque fired approximately 2–3 weeks after the second class. Glazing is not included in this workshop. Participants may return during any open studio session to glaze their berry bowl by paying the applicable studio fee.
BYOB: Feel free to bring your favorite beverage to enjoy while you create. Adult beverages are welcome for guests 21+ with a valid ID.
